LST ISO 37001 Anti-corruption management systems. Requirements and guidelines for use (identical to ISO 37001:2016).

Briefly about ISO 37001

Corruption is currently a widespread phenomenon in the world. This raises serious concerns, undermines good governance, hinders development and distorts competition. It undermines justice and undermines human rights. Based on the requirements of the ISO 37001 standard, the organization implements reasonable and proportionate measures for the prevention and detection of corruption and takes countermeasures to reduce corruption, taking into account the type and size of the organization and the nature and extent of the risk of corruption. Implementation of the standard does not guarantee that cases of corruption will not occur, but it shows that the organization implements reasonable and proportionate anti-corruption procedures and measures. Transparent, honest, open business activities are one of the most important elements of an impeccable business reputation. Therefore, organizations apply the requirements of the ISO 37001 standard in their activities, and also take into account other recommendations (eg: Anti-corruption guide for business, Guide to the creation and implementation of an anti-corruption environment in the public sector, etc.). This standard reflects good international practice and can be used in all jurisdictions. It applies to small, medium and large organizations in all sectors, including the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.

Objective of ISO 37001

The main objective of the occupational safety and health (OSH) management system is to ensure a framework for the management of occupational safety and health risks and opportunities. The ISO 45001:2018 standard states that "the purpose and expected results of the DSS management system are to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses of employees and to ensure safe and healthy workplaces." It is very important for the organization to eliminate hazards and reduce OSH risks in its activities by taking effective prevention and protection measures. The organization's management is responsible for the health and safety of employees and other stakeholders affected by the organization's operations.

ISO 37001 value

The implementation of the anti-corruption management system according to ISO 37001 in the organization obliges the management of the organization to create an honest, transparent and open policy for the activities carried out in their organization. This standard applies only to the manifestation of corruption. It sets out requirements and provides guidance for developing and maintaining a management system to help an organization prevent corruption, detect and respond to corruption, and comply with laws and voluntary anti-corruption obligations applicable to its operations.

Advantages of a certified management system according to the ISO 37001 standard:

By applying the requirements of the anti-corruption management system, the organization recognizes the manifestations of corruption more quickly and can more easily avoid those arising from involvement in corruption:
  • cost,
  • risks and
  • damage.
Benefits of implementing anti-corruption management for organizations:
  • helps to identify and properly manage corruption risks;
  • strengthens intolerance to corruption, encourages not to commit violations of the law of a corrupt nature;
  • motivates to create a corruption-resistant environment;
  • gradually aims for zero tolerance;
  • determines the probabilities of corruption and prepares plans to reduce them.
By certifying the anti-corruption management system, the organization publicly declares that it adheres to an honest, clean and open business policy, applying good international practices.
