What are the responsibilities of the equipment importer/distributor (CE marking)?
- A distinction should be made between products that are manufactured in the European Union (EU) and outside it.
- If the product is manufactured outside the European Union, the person who commercializes the product on the EU market must take full responsibility for it (both the manufacturer and the importer/distributor requirements) and ensure that the product meets the necessary requirements and, if necessary, submit all the necessary documents for control purposes.
- When the product is manufactured in the EU, the above requirements do not apply to the importer/distributor, i.e. the manufacturer's responsibilities are not transferred to a third party - the importer/distributor.
